Our goals: Promotion, Products, Education
We would like to welcome our new members from the Upstate Goat Association!!
The 2012 Southeastern Goat and Sheep Seminar will be held on April 21, 2012!!
Some of the best leaders in the goat industry will be there to present vital information to all goat and sheep producers. It will be a huge educational event with 12 breakout workshops as well as tattooing, tagging, hoof trimming, injections, and shearing exhibitions, and will also include entertainment, vendors, catered lunch, bluegrass, and many exhibits. Last year over 250 people attended, 40+ people became certified in FAMACHA, and Clemson accredited 7.5 hours for Continuing Education for veterinarians and others that needed it for their jobs. So come join us, learn from the best, and learn along side the best. Click below for more SEGGS Information or email sgpa@bellsouth.net! The South Carolina Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Earth Sciences Resources Institute at the University of South Carolina have some great short videos about pastures, farming, and conservation available -- just click here!
It is with regret that we tell you that Steve Harris is no longer associated with SGPA -- and that we need a new Georgia liason. If you would like to serve as the new liason, please let us know ASAP.
Thank you to our 2011 sponsors:
The Southern Goat Producers Association was formed so that farmers in South Carolina and beyond could come together to be more informed on goat husbandry, disease control, production of meat, milk, butter, cheese, fiber, show goats, and pet goats. We welcome new members to join our organization. Our goal is for goat owners to become better informed farmers, learn about goats in general, and have fellowship with other goat lovers. We meet the 4th Tuesday of each month. Click on the "Meetings" tab to the left for more information
Life without goats?? I don't THINK so!
