The purpose of SGPA shall be to educate the public as to the viability of goats as a farm animal for meat, dairy, fiber and companionship purposes, to encourage the improvement of goat husbandry practices in breeding, raising, and keeping goats, and to develop an educational program that will encourage young people to learn about sustainable farming.
The SGPA has set forth a set of goals and they are as follows:
1. To educate the general public about:

Goat meat and dairy products from both culinary and health perspectives. | |

Goat fiber as a premium, stylish, practical, durable, and sustainable clothing fiber. | |

Goats as a viable pet and companion animal on small farms. | |
|
Environmentally sound, responsible, and sustainable land use. |
2. To educate the culinary industry on the role and benefits of goats in agriculture and nutrition.
3. To conduct suitable educational youth programs, either alone or in conjunction with appropriate organizations such as 4-H, FFA, Jr. ABGA, Jr. IBGA, and Jr. ADGA
